Post Graduate and Research Department of Zoology
The Zoology department became established with B,Sc degree in the year 2013. The M.Sc. degree course was launched in 2017, upgrading it to the postgraduate level and also M.Phil Zoology is started in the year 2018 onwards. The zoology department is also a recognized research center with affiliation to Periyar University since 2018. In our department labs are there having with all necessary substances sufficient microscope and clinical devices also for in the practical lessons.
A properly hooked up animal museum is arranged for retaining specimen’s and fashions for specific animals which might be most beneficial to the scholars. A permanent museum keeper is appointed to appearance after the museum well and to preserve the registers and information of the dissection fabric. At present, our department achieved 05 Gold medals 36 University ranks in under graduate, post graduate and M.Phil programme level.
OBJECTIVE
- To acquire knowledge in different areas of animal science.
- To expose students to the field of life sciences via tasks on vermin composting, Bee maintaining, Bio pesticide, Organic control.
- To create environment conservation attention through area visits.
- To offer a modular course of lectures and associated seminars research project and practical classes in zoological Domain.
- To provide professional training in effective verbal and written communication skills related to zoological field.
- Our objective is to provide opportunities in employment and research in Government and Private sectors.
- Our objective of curriculam is also taught for Poultry Science, Diary Science, Human health and hygiene, Sericulture, Apiculture, Aquaculture, Biotechnology and Clinical Nutrition have been provided.
- Practical included in the syllabus will improve the skills of the students in Microscopy, Observations, and drawing and Laboratory techniques.

ELIGIBILITY
Under Graduate
A candidate who has passed Higher Secondary Examination in academic or vocational stream with Biology (Botany/Zoology) under higher secondary board of examination, Tamil Nadu or an examination accepted as Equivalent thereto.
Post Graduate
A candidate who has passed the three year B.Sc., Examination with Zoology will be eligible for admission to M.Sc Course.
