The department of Nutrition and Dietetics was started during the academic year 2013-2014. Our department offers UG & PG course. PG course was started 2020 onwards B. Sc & M.Sc program is successfully progressing in this department. This department is well established with infrastructural facilities like 04 classrooms and 02 Laboratories. Academic excellence has always been one among the significant concerns of this department.
This course started with the view of balancing healthy human race and it dedicated to implementing research, education outreach programs designed to promote a safe, nutritious, accessible, and affordable food supply that enhances human health, managing food and nutrition to promote health. The department also focuses on student development in such a way providing Add on courses and Certificate courses for the students. Hospital and Food Processing Internship training and field visit are also provided to improve the practical knowledge of the students. The department develops the Entrepreneurial skills of the students by providing Project work, which enables them to create various innovative foods by using current modern technology and traditional practices.
Two laboratories in the department have been well equipped with current technology. Till now our Department obtained 6 Gold medals and 42 University ranks in UG and PG degree programme. The department aims at the overall development of the students by conducting Workshops, Hands on Training, Conferences, Seminars, Exhibitions and Industrial visit.
OBJECTIVE
- To produce undergraduates & postgraduates in the field of Nutrition and Dietetics recognized for practical and public health skills.
- Our aim is acquaint undergraduates & postgraduates with advanced clinical nutrition.
- Our goal is to understand the basics of nutritional status assessment, biochemical basis of nutrition, nutrition related disorders, and the role of nutrition in therapeutic diets.
- To train the students in the skills of Menu Planning for quality and quantity preparation and management of resources.
- To make aware of the students in new and expanding areas of Research in the field of Dietetics and Nutrition and acquire necessary research-oriented skills.

- To serve local, regional, national and international communities through discovery of the ways in which foods and their bioactive components contribute to health.
- Our Vision is to prevent the diseases through effective application of nutritive knowledge to improve human health and well-being.
Mission
- To contribute to the fundamental knowledge of nutrients and food components function at cellular, systematic and whole-body levels.
- To impact human health and disease, delivering innovative, research-based interventions.
- Our Mission is to alter meal patterns and food choices with the goal of improved health of individuals through nutritional service program.
Eligibility B.Sc
- A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Board or an examination of some other board accepted by the syndicate as equivalent there to with Biology and Chemistry shall be eligible for admission into B.Sc., Courses in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Eligibility M.Sc.,
- A Candidate who has passed the Undergraduate degree with Nutrition & Dietetics/Home science/Food science/Food service management and Clinical Nutrition/ Food and Nutrition/Biotechnology/Microbiology shall be eligible for admission into M. Sc., Courses in Nutrition and Dietetics.
