The Department of Computer Applications was started in the year 2010 with the launch of the B.C.A. (Bachelor of Computer Applications) programme. Since its inception, the department has steadily grown in academic strength, quality teaching, and student achievements.
The department shares access to two advanced computer laboratories, equipped with 120 high-configuration systems and full air-conditioning, to support effective practical learning for undergraduate students.
With a team of experienced and dedicated faculty members, the department continuously engages in teaching, research, and student development activities. Faculty members have actively published research papers in various national and international journals. The department includes 6 teaching and 2 non-teaching staff, several of whom are pursuing higher research degrees.
Students of the B.C.A. programme have performed exceptionally well, contributing to the department’s overall record of 3 gold medals, 25 university ranks, and strong placement outcomes. The department regularly organizes seminars, guest lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and cultural events to enhance students’ academic and personal development.
Graduates of the B.C.A. programme have established successful careers as Software Developers, System Administrators, Web Designers, IT Executives, Researchers, and Academicians both in India and abroad.
The Department of Computer Applications continues to focus on building IT competency, programming skills, and preparing students for a wide range of industry-oriented careers.
Eligibility for B.C.A
- A candidate who has passed the Higher Secondary Examination with Mathematics, Business Mathematics, Computer Science, or Statistics (Academic or Vocational stream) as one of the subjects under the Board of Higher Secondary Examination, Tamil Nadu, as per the norms set by the Government of Tamil Nadu, or an examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the syndicate, subject to such other prescribed conditions, is eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Computer Applications degree. Eligible candidates are permitted to pursue the programme and appear for the B.C.A. degree examination of this university after completing three academic years of study.
M.C.A.,
- A candidate who has passed B.Sc. Computer Science, B.C.A, B.Sc. Computer Technology, B.Sc. Information Science, or B.Sc. Information Technology degree of this University or a degree from any other recognized University is eligible for admission to the Master of Computer Applications (M.C.A. / M.Sc. IT / M.Sc CS) programme, subject to university norms.
OBJECTIVE
- The student will gain essential laboratory skills for software development, programming, and the interpretation of software design applied to real-world applications.
- The student will build a strong foundation in computer applications, enabling them to understand and critically evaluate software and IT-related literature.
- The student will develop effective communication skills to present software concepts, project work, and research results in written and oral formats.
- The student will learn professionalism, collaboration, and ethical practices necessary for a successful IT career.
- To motivate staff members to participate in seminars, workshops, and academic activities.
- To encourage faculty research and publications in reputed national and international journals.

Lab facilities in Computer Science Department
We provide ample computing facility to the students. Students have an unlimited Internet access from 9.30 AM to 4 PM. All computers in the lab have LAN facility. CS Department has following Software facilitiesin our labs as per the curriculum. Our two labs have good air conditions facilities.
