Sri Vijay Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science observes that women empowerment through skill base knowledge and Discipline, Safety, and Protection on the Campus as its best practices to support its motto ‘Discipline, Courage, and Excellence’.
Women empowerment through skill-based knowledge is practiced by providing industrial collaboration through industrial visits and Internship programs to support experiential learning. This practice encourages the students to go for higher education and research practice and also this gives students access to a variety of practicum possibilities and supports them in achieving their career goals by assisting them in finding the appropriate employer for them personally.
A student’s life on campus is mainly focused on maintaining discipline and safety. The management never tolerates indiscipline and the college is famous for discipline and safety. Students come from various backgrounds such as religious, linguistic, and communal socio-economic strata. So tolerance and safety towards each other are important on the campus so that they return as sensible humans to society. The present society is very unsafe for women, due to more Sexual harassment, and Crimes by Extensive usage of Mobile and Social media. To uphold Discipline, Safety, and Protection on campus, the management has a uniform dress code, no mobiles, different types of ID for dayscholler and transport users, no visitors can access the campus without out gate pass, no students can be accessed without a visitors pass and ID, regular SMS and WhatsApp alert to parents regarding absenteeism and academic progress.
The goal and responsibility of every institution lies in shaping their students to develop as responsible citizens. Making sure that students are successful in all areas of their lives is the management’s top focus, which inevitably contributes to the institution’s uniqueness. Being a Women’s Institution, to improve the standard of living, self-confidence, knowledge, and skills of rural women, it is a great challenge to empower them to actively participate in the development process through Education. Hence creating Brave and spirited students through Academic Discipline and achieving Academic Excellence creates a brand image and makes the institution unique from others.
Sri Vijay Vidyalaya College with its motto “THINK BIG” aims to create self-reliant and liberated young women with traditional cultural values and moral integrity, who will be agents of social transformation in their families and society. The result shows consistency over the years. The number of gold medals and ranks is well above the university average every year. The college follows well-designed plan for teaching programs adopted to promote rigorous learning, video lectures, movies, and dramas based on the syllabus are given to get a visual impact on the learner. Departments equipped with LCD projectors. There are regular PowerPoint presentations of seminars by the students. Syllabus-based debates quiz and group discussions are conducted regularly as part of building up vocabulary “A word a day” scheme is in practice for the final year literature students to learn the meaning, pronunciation and, usage of a new word each day. To increase the learning capacity of the students we offer interactive sessions, group study, group discussions, etc., adequate support is provided for the average and below-average students to scale up their academic heights. Special classes are conducted for slow learners and meritorious students. On the other hand minorities and economically backward students are encouraged with cash awards and scholarships. Regular and periodic counseling, remedial classes, tutorial mentoring, career guidance etc., are provided. National seminars, invited talks, and workshop programs such as walk with a scholar and scholar support programs are provided for the students to excel in their academics. Add on and certificate courses are conducted for the students to enable them to acquire additional knowledge and skills in different sphere of study. The College library is partially automated and well-equipped with a collection of 13567 textbooks and more than 30 journals. INFLIBNET facility with a large number of e-journals and e-books is open for students and faculty.
